2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD: Redesign & Specs. The forthcoming 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is about to get a couple of novelties. This is one of the most impressive models in the heavy-duty lineup of trucks. As before, the Silverado 3500 will rival Ford F-350 and Ram 3500 models. However, the electric trucks are about to arrive, so Chevy needs to do something about its Silverado HD lineup.
The electric powertrain is not an option for the Silverado 3500HD model, but GM will introduce an all-electric Hummer EV truck anyway. As for the Silverado, this model will continue with improvements and we expect to see at least the same performances. This truck comes with great tradition and it is also one of the most reliable models in the segment.

2023 Silverado 3500HD Engines and Towing Capacity
The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD will continue to offer a 6.6-liter V8 gasoline engine as a standard powertrain option. This unit develops up to 401 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Chevy offers a six-speed automatic transmission, along with the standard rear-wheel-drive system. A 6.6-liter V8 turbodiesel engine is optional and it generates 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. A diesel engine will offer a relatively new 10-speed Allison automatic transmission.
As you can see, a diesel powertrain is definitely a better choice. To compare, Silverado 3500HD with a gasoline engine can tow almost 17,500 pounds. On the other hand, diesel’s towing capacity is rated at 36,000 pounds. Some reports are suggesting an even higher level of torque for the Duramax diesel engine. At this moment, a hybrid powertrain is not on the cards.
Exterior Facelift
Visually, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD will change, but not significantly. Instead, the manufacturer will provide another mid-cycle facelift. There will be four trim levels and each trim level will get the same type of upgrades. We’d recommend you skip the base trim level and opt for the LTZ variant. This model comes with LED headlights, a wider grille, and the lift tailgate option.
As before, the range-topping High Country is the best trim you can get. It is the most unique version of the Silverado 3500 truck. The High Country offers larger wheels, additional chrome accents, and darkened exterior trims. You will also get a more premium look, an LED cargo area, and a 120-volt power outlet.
Interior Gets Tech Updates
Once again provide a lot of space and plenty of modern features, the interior of the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD will. The new model will gain more tech, including the newest infotainment system and the latest safety aids. That, we don’t expect drastic changes on the inside.
